A Sales & Marketing role is a hybrid position that bridges the gap between creating brand awareness (Marketing) and closing deals (Sales). While they are two distinct departments, an integrated Sales & Marketing professional is responsible for the entire revenue cycle—from finding a lead to final payment.
In 2025, this role heavily relies on CRM tools and AI-driven personalization to convert modern, tech-savvy consumers.
## 1. The Core Difference: Sales vs. Marketing
To understand the job description, you must first understand how these two functions interact:
Marketing: Focuses on the Pull. It creates interest, builds the brand, and generates leads (e.g., social media ads, blogs, and events).
Sales: Focuses on the Push. It involves direct interaction, negotiation, and converting those leads into paying customers (e.g., calls, demos, and closing contracts).
## 2. Key Responsibilities
A Sales & Marketing professional manages the following end-to-end tasks:
A. Lead Generation & Research
Market Research: Identifying target audiences and analyzing competitor pricing and strategies.
Prospecting: Using LinkedIn, email, and cold-calling to build a pipeline of potential clients.
B. Campaign Execution (Marketing)
Content Creation: Developing brochures, social media posts, and sales literature to attract attention.
Digital Outreach: Running email marketing campaigns and coordinating with the digital team for SEO/SEM updates.
C. Revenue & Conversion (Sales)
Presentations & Demos: Conducting product demonstrations and explaining technical specifications to clients.
Negotiation: Handling objections, discussing discounts, and finalizing contract terms.
Closing: Ensuring the deal is signed and the initial payment is processed.
D. Relationship Management
Retention: Maintaining regular contact with existing clients to ensure satisfaction and encourage Upselling (selling more expensive products).
Reporting: Updating the CRM (Salesforce/HubSpot) with daily activities and sales forecasts.
