Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Academic Counsellor to provide guidance, support, and mentorship to students and their families regarding educational planning, course selection, career pathways, and institutional admissions. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate listener, an effective communicator, and possess a thorough understanding of current academic programs and admissions criteria.
Key Responsibilities
1. Student Advising & Guidance
Conduct one-on-one and group counselling sessions with students to discuss their academic performance, personal strengths, interests, and educational goals.
Guide students in the selection of appropriate courses, subjects, and academic streams that align with their career aspirations and learning abilities.
Inform students about different college/university admission requirements, application processes, entrance examinations, and scholarship opportunities.
Provide necessary emotional support and strategies for students facing academic challenges or stress related to their studies.
2. Admissions & Liaison
Act as the primary point of contact for prospective students and their parents, providing comprehensive information about the institution's programs, curriculum, and value proposition.
Manage the entire admissions cycle, including initial inquiry, application form processing, follow-up, and conversion.
Coordinate and conduct information sessions, workshops, and campus tours for interested applicants.
Maintain strong relationships with external institutions (colleges, universities) and industry professionals to gather up-to-date career information.
3. Administration & Record Keeping
Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date records of all student interactions, academic progress, and counselling outcomes in the student management system (SMS) or CRM.
Track admission targets and provide weekly/monthly reports on student engagement, application status, and conversion rates to the management team.
Assist in the preparation of marketing materials and presentations related to academic programs and career development.
4. Career Development
Implement and administer career interest assessments and tools to help students explore potential career paths.
Organize career fairs and guidance seminars featuring guest speakers from various professions.
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential
Education: Bachelors degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, Communication, or a related field. A Masters degree is highly desirable.
Experience: 2-4 years of professional experience in academic counselling, educational sales, admissions, or career guidance, preferably within a [Specify relevant sector, e.g., K-12, Higher Education, Test Prep] environment.
