Area Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Opportunity Identification - Market Research: Conduct in-depth analysis to identify new markets, growth areas, industry trends, customer needs, and competitor strategies.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive long-term business development strategy to achieve revenue and expansion goals.
- Product/Service Improvement: Collaborate with product and marketing teams to suggest improvements or new offerings to better meet market demands.
Lead Generation & Prospecting - Lead Generation: Actively seek out new business opportunities through networking, cold outreach (calls, email, social media), and attending industry events/conferences.
- Pipeline Management: Build and manage a sales pipeline, overseeing the entire sales cycle from initial contact to deal closure.
Relationship Building & Networking - Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients, partners, and decision-makers.
- Partnership Development: Propose, negotiate, and secure strategic alliances, partnerships, and new ventures that align with company goals.
Sales & Financial Management - Negotiation & Contracts: Lead high-level negotiations, develop proposals, and draft contracts and agreements to close new business deals.
- Forecasting & Reporting: Perform sales forecasting, profitability analysis, and create regular reports and presentations on business development activities for senior management.
Cross-Functional Collaboration - Internal Alignment: Collaborate with marketing to align campaigns, with the sales team for lead handover, with product development for market-driven innovation, and with finance to ensure new ventures are profitable.
- Team Development: Mentor and train junior business development staff, ensuring the team is equipped to execute the growth strategy.
