Material Selection: Researching and selecting the best materials (plastics, metals, composites) based on strength, weight, heat resistance, and cost. Prototyping & Testing: Overseeing the creation of physical prototypes (using 3D printing or CNC machining) and conducting rigorous "Failure Mode" testing. DFM/DFA Implementation: Applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to ensure the product is easy and affordable to produce. Vendor Coordination: Working with mold makers, tool rooms, and electronic component suppliers to ensure design intent is maintained during tooling.
